BMSCs\r\nwere isolated from Wistar rats and seeded into\r\n3D collagen type 1 templates measuring 25 x\r\n25 x 6 mm. Bipolar in vitro ES was performed\r\nduring 21 days. Electrical impedance and cell\r\nproliferation were measured. Expression of\r\ncardiac markers was assessed by immunocytochemistry.\r\nViscoelasticity of collagen matrix\r\nwas evaluated. Electrical impedance assessments\r\nshowed a low resistance of 234\u00b141\r\nOhms which indicates good electrical conductivity\r\nof collagen matrix. Cell proliferation at\r\n570 nm as significantly increased in ES groups\r\nafter seven day (ES 0.129\u00b10.03 vs non-stimulated\r\ncontrol matrix 0.06\u00b10.01, P=0.002) and\r\nafter 21 days, (ES 0.22\u00b10.04 vs control\r\n0.13\u00b10.01, P=0.01). Immunocytoche mistry of\r\nBMSCs after 21 days ES showed positive staining\r\nof cardiac markers, troponin I, connexin\r\n43, sarcomeric alpha-actinin, slow myosin,\r\nfast myosin and desmin. Staining for BMSCs\r\nmarker CD29 after 21 days was negative.\r\nElectrostimulation of cell-seeded collagen\r\nmatrix changed stem cell morphology and biochemical\r\ncharacteristics, increasing the\r\nexpression of cardiac markers.
