Because of the increased use of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators, infection has become a complication with significant morbidity and mortality. It was a pleasure to speak with Dr Sean Pokorney (Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC) to find out his thoughts on mortality in patients with infections of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.

The presentation entitled ‘Low Rates of Guideline Directed Care Associated With Higher Mortality in Patients With Infections of Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators’ was presented at the American College of Cardiology Annual Meeting 2022, April 02-04, 2022
