Despite medications and lifestyle modifications for hypertension, there are still many cases of uncontrolled hypertension. Ultrasound renal denervation has shown to be a tool for reducing blood pressure. In this touchCARDIO interview, we speak with Dr Ajay Kirtane (Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY, USA) to discuss the challenges faced in uncontrolled hypertension and the positive effects of ultrasound renal denervation. 

The abstract entitled ‘Endovascular Ultrasound Renal Denervation to Treat Uncontrolled Hypertension: Primary Results of the Randomized, Sham-Controlled RADIANCE II Pivotal Trial’ was presented at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference, 16 – 19, September 2022.
